Within DNR, the Division of Forestry works in partnership to administer programs that protect and sustain our forested lands throughout the state, combining technical and financial assistance, planning, research, technology, education, and policy to help meet the many demands on the forest both today and for many years to come.

Position Summary:
The Learning Specialist is the primary expert for the Division of Forestry’s learning and professional development program, and leads the Division in the adoption of the principles and practices of a learning organization. In collaboration with Division leadership, this position aligns the development of people with the strategic goals of the Division to empower forestry staff and ensure their maximum effectiveness and contribution to meeting organizational goals. The Learning Specialist develops and implements policies and procedures related to the Division’s learning and professional development programs, leadership development, organizational effectiveness and development initiatives, human resources practices, and staff development programs. The position is also responsible for integrating performance management processes with learning and workforce development programs.
The position is a key internal and external consultant for staff, leadership, inter-divisional teams, and partner groups. Qualifications:
Applicants must possess the following required qualification to be eligible for this position:
- Experience developing and implementing organizational training or learning programs.
Best-qualified candidates will also possess the following preferred qualifications:
- Experience facilitating leadership, executive or supervisory team discussions and decision making related to organizational learning programs or protocols.
- Experience developing (or evaluating/improving) and presenting training programs aimed at advancing professional or leadership development.
- Experience establishing an evaluation system to measure the effectiveness of an organizational learning program.
- Experience developing individualized learning plans for adults.
- Experience related to sustainable forestry operations, administration or policy.
