(Victim Witness Specialist I)
Grant Funded Position. Office of the Commonwealth’s Attorney City of Alexandria Victim Witness Assistance Program $44,538 (Grade 14) + Benefits.
Provide direct services to victims of domestic violence. Duties include extensive work in the field with clients, providing crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, court preparation and advocacy; conducting professional and community education and events and coordinating the objectives and activities of the grant to include collecting statistics and producing reports.
Requirements: Four-year College Degree; one year of experience in a human service delivery program providing direct guidance and case work services; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Preferred Qualifications: Include a Four-year College Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Social Work; and 2 years’ experience in the provision of direct services to victims of domestic violence. The ideal candidate should have a solid knowledge of victims’ rights and reactions, crisis intervention, case management techniques and procedures; to be able to prioritize and perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; and the ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally to include speaking publicly to a variety of community and professional audiences.
Must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation. Successful completion of a criminal background check required before employment. Some evening and weekend work required. This position is grant- funded through December 31, 2019. Continued funding beyond this date is contingent upon availability of grant funds.
