About this position:
Are you a problem solver? Do you enjoy research? Join our team as a Tax Accountant to help ensure GreatAmerica is in compliance with federal, state and local laws pertaining to indirect taxes.
This individual will research and identify areas where taxes can and do impact the core business process of GreatAmerica and GreatAmerica’s Customers. We are seeking someone who will thoroughly understand our business and consult on how taxes impact its success.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Research tax laws to ensure compliance in all areas of tax. Share findings and work closely with senior leadership, team leaders, clients and external vendors.
- Evaluate current tax related business processes/procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
- Assist with all audits by state and local agencies/tax authorities
- Reconcile and/or review all tax related accounts
- Assist leadership with the evaluation of prospective business opportunities from the tax perspective serving as a liaison for the team to other core functions within GreatAmerica.
- Act a role model for the team while assisting in the development and building of team skills.
- Conduct tax law research, including compliance strategy recommendation
- Evaluate prospective business opportunities from the tax perspective serving as a liaison for the group to other teams and senior leadership
Education, experience and skills required:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and 5+ years of experience in tax required. Our ideal candidate will have experience researching technical tax issues including solution recommendations. Strong Microsoft Office skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel) are necessary for this role.We are looking for a team player, a self-starter and someone with strong communication skills
