About this position:
We are seeking an experienced accountant to join our growing team! At GreatAmerica you will be able see your impact on the company and contribute to the bigger picture. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that generally accepted accounting principles are followed in the preparation and presentation of financial reports as well as working closely with Finance leadership in all facets of the accounting function.
There are currently two openings in the department.
The candidate(s) hired will be hired as an Accountant II or Senior Accountant, based upon qualifications, skills, and organizational needs. There will be additional opportunities as the team continues to grow.
This position will provide mentorship to the Accounting Team. S/he will be accountable, along with other leaders and team members, for working on and completing various strategic goals for GreatAmerica. Projects may include: Developing deep knowledge of the new accounting guidance as we work on the adoption and implementation of the guidance for GreatAmerica, Supporting GreatAmerica’s front-end Teams on new programs as they are created, Compiling a full understanding of GreatAmerica’s Partners-In-Leasing transactions so we can determine efficiencies and improvements to the Program etc.
Essential Functions
- Performs research and provides recommendations on new and proposed accounting guidance issued by the FASB including the preparation of memorandums to document the Company’s position and impact on the Company.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statement analysis to ensure financial statements are accurate including preparation of account reconciliations.
- Acts as liaison between Finance and Accounting Teams, working to ensure that finance initiatives are well aligned with accounting initiatives and processes.
- Take an active role in advancing the Team’s strategic initiatives.
- Assist with annual budget process.
- Serve as a partner to other areas of the Company, providing accounting and financial support, allowing them to make good financial decisions.
- Assist with the annual financial statement audit.
- Review work of Accounting Team members as needed.
- Lives the GreatAmerica principles; involved in cross functional team efforts as assigned and required.
- Provide mentorship to the Accounting Team members.
- Proactively promote and participate in process improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Provide an outstanding GreatAmerica experience to all customers.
Education, experience and skills required:
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
- 3-5 years of corporate finance and corporate accounting experience in financial reporting, reconciliations and accounting research
- FASB accounting research experience and experience with GAAP financial statements is highly preferred
- CPA or MBA
- Public accounting experience
- Auditing experience
