Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing is responsible for the administration of assigned nursing units, including policy development, organizational planning, and development and monitoring of standards of gerontological nursing practices. The Director of Nursing also manages the direction of the delivery of geriatric nursing care and promotes public relations, education, and consultation within assigned units.
In addition, the Director of Nursing is responsible for the following duties:
- Monitoring and improving the overall quality of nursing services provided at the Health Care Center (HCC)
- Maintaining effective communication with interdisciplinary team, residents, families, physicians, and staff
- Performing activities related to residents’ nursing care needs, as necessary
- Participating in the development, implementation, and evaluation of facility performance improvement program.
- Collaborating with the Administrator to operate the HCC in accordance with established policies and procedures of St. Leonard
- Collaborating with the Staff Development Nurse to provide continuing training and education to the Nursing Department.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio. At least 5 years clinical experience related to geriatric nursing, team building, interdisciplinary communication, leadership, and management required.
Experience in long-term care facility, experience with MDS, care planning, working knowledge of Performance Improvement process, Point Click Care and EMAR experience preferred. Certified Gerontology Nurse preferred.
